Please see below for a message from our Executive Director & CEO regarding the terrible loss to our Parma and Parma Heights Community this week:
It is with deep sadness that we join the Parma and Parma Heights communities in mourning the heartbreaking loss of yet another young person in our community. Our hearts are with the family, friends, classmates, educators, and all those directly affected by this tragedy.
Moments like this remind us that the pain and struggles young people carry do not exist in isolation. They ripple across families, schools, and communities, affecting all of us in real and lasting ways. In times like these, we are reminded not only of the fragility of life, but also of our shared responsibility to care for one another with compassion, presence, and grace.
At our core, we believe in educating, supporting, and empowering students. That commitment also means creating safe and supportive spaces for students, faculty, and staff to process grief, seek support, and care for one another.
We want to remind our community of the resources available to those who may need support:
Mental Health Screening and Referrals: Tickit, our mental health services partner, is available to help students who may need support beyond the school day, including connections and referrals to professional services as needed.
Counseling Services: Professional counseling support is available through our school psychology partner for any student or staff member in need of immediate emotional support. If you would like assistance with a connection or referral, please contact your Campus Director or Human Resources.
On-Site Support: Homeroom teachers, family advocates, and members of our support team are available to listen, provide comfort, and help connect individuals with the appropriate resources.
We will continue to move through difficult moments together as a community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your Campus Director if you or your child need support. One of our greatest strengths is the way we show up for one another, especially in times of grief.
We are holding this community in our thoughts and prayers and remain committed to supporting those who may be hurting.
