2017 Invictus High School Student Commencement Speech.

My journey began in 2015 after losing my father when I first enrolled into Invictus High School, trying to figure out how I was going to balance school and be a mother at the same time. I told myself if I didn’t graduate by a certain time I was just going to drop out and get my G.E.D. I started to discourage myself. I had to think about my daughter and the life I wanted to make for her. So of course I KEPT GOING! 2016 I pushed myself, and I only had one goal in mind. GRADUATE!! After failing OGTs I really wanted to give up but thanks to Ms. Dumas who pushed me to go harder that way I could be done with high school and go further in life. I became pregnant with my second child while completing high school but that didn’t stop me. One of my biggest supporters was and still is my mother without her I don’t think I would have made it this far. I became closer to graduating and I just needed that extra PUSH. Thanks to Ms. Hall I got exactly what I needed. She’s one of the reasons I completed high school. With the help of Ms. Hall I completed high school on November 29, 2017 after 2 long years of being enrolled. It feels so good to say I DID IT! I never thought I would be able to say that and I say it very proudly. I am an official high school graduate! It took me a long time to get here but I made it, it’s done and I can now provide a better life for both of my daughters.

Thank you,
