Family Advocate Availability for Students Who Need to Talk

We understand that the racism and cavalier violence in the last few weeks have emphasized the harsh reality and traumatic experiences that impacted and continue to impact our students regularly.  At a time when our students are distanced from the faculty and staff members that they are accustomed to sounding off for advice and support, Invictus High School is taking steps to increase access to these key supports within our school community.

Our family advocates and and key supportive staff members have increased accessibility for students, which will be maintained over the next couple of weeks (at least through 12 June, 2020).

Downtown Campus - Sharonda Perkins has created a text thread for students and reached out to many of you directly to be added.  If you'd like to text with her directly (one-on-one or in the group message) email [email protected], and she'll add you to the group message.

East Campus - Kimberly Berry, Kevin Minor, and James Hudson are available via the Houseparty app.  You don't need an account, just download the app and search for one of the staff members above.  They'll get a notification when you "knock" and you can talk with them and other students--or they can "lock" the room so you can have a one-on-one conversation.

West Campus - Mike Woods is available via telephone Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  He has a dedicated conference line for student support and discussion.  To dial in and talk, call 1 (605) 313-5962.  The access code for the call is 383905.

If there's anything else that our faculty and staff can do to make you feed safe, supported, and empowered, please let us know.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.
